Link Kimberly Beasley led her “Dream Team” on the Walk for MS. This walk is a charity walk that is changing the lives of people with MS and helping fuel progress toward a world free of MS. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an unpredictable, often disabling disease of the central nervous system that disrupts the flow of information with the brain, and between the brain and body. Her designed shirt for the walk won first place at the event.
Link Joel-lyn McCormick (on right) served as Event Co-Chairs for the Fifth Annual Women’s Leadership Luncheon for City Year Tulsa. City Year Tulsa helps students and schools succeed. Fueled by national service, City Year Tulsa partners with Tulsa Public Schools deploying diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members to provide research-based student, classroom and schoolwide supports to help students stay in school and on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success. She is currently the Chapter’s President.
Tulsa (OK) Chapter member, Link Eleanor C. Payne, Ed.D., was featured in Tulsa Community College’s fall 2018, “Community Magazine.” The spotlight was “A Foundation of Education.” Link Eleanor is a former Tulsa Community College Associate Dean of Business & Information Technology. She currently serves on TCC’s Foundation Board and she is also involved in Grambling State University’s “fill-in-the gap” funding for students in need. Her service and contributions are continuing the legacy of the people in the community she grew up around.
Retired Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), a part of Senior Corps, highlighted Dr. Marilyn K. Troupe in Life’s Vintage Magazine in December, 2018. She was highlighted for her long and involved volunteer efforts throughout the Tulsa Community. Her volunteer efforts include Gilcrease Elementary, Foster Care Review Board, St. Monica Catholic Church, the Convention and Visitors Bureau for Special Events and with the Friends of Rudisill Regional Library.
Tulsa (OK) Chapter member Link Runako Whittaker, M.D. received Tulsa’s Women of Color Expo 2018 Woman of The Year Award during their annual awards luncheon on September 15, 2018. Link Runako was recognized for her commitment to the health and well-being of children in her practice as a pediatrician at Westview Pediatric Care.
Link Eleanor Payne and Connecting Link Larry Payne received the 2017 Beacon Award to recognize individuals and organizations in the region and nation for their outstanding commitment to leadership, excellence and philanthropy. This was awarded in the Business and Industry category. The award was given at the “Bring it Home Gala” during the Grambling State University homecoming weekend. The Foundation has raised over 1.2 million this year for student scholarships.
Presented by the Tulsa Community College Foundation, the 2017 Vision Dinner raised more than $370,000, the most successful in its 18-year history. The 2017 Vision Honorary Co-chairs are Michael and Libby Johnson seen left in the photo.
